This M1 certification not only represents the increase in the number of our M1 certified seats, but also proves our professional strength and innovation ability in the field of Van Seats.
Many van seat suppliers and dealers choose our M1 series seats, our M1 series seats include: Foldaway Seat, RV Seat, Ambulance Seat, Campervan Seat, Jeep Seat, Welfare Vehicle Seat, RIB Seat, Rock N Roll Bed, Wheelchair Access Seat, RIB Seat and RIB Seat. Roll Bed, Wheelchair Access Van Seat. Then as an experienced van seat manufacturer, we would like to share with you a brief guide on the requirements of ECE R14, ECE R16, ECE R17 and ECE R21.
A brief guide to the requirements for each category
1、ECE R14 (seat belt anchorage points)
• The anchorage point of the seat should also support the operation of the seat belt with a certain tensile stress.
• The upper shoulder belt and lower pelvic belt of a three-point harness are secured by traction devices.
• The seat must be able to withstand a load of 1350 kg on each section of the harness and a static load of 20 times the weight of the seat at the lower anchorage points.
• The total load of the Jany seating system is approximately 3.5 tons, which needs to be sustained for 0.2 seconds without rupture based on this load.
2、ECE R16 (Seat Belt and Restraint Systems)
Static tests include temperature, strength and durability tests for buckles, low temperature impact and corrosion tests for rigid parts; temperature, light, micro-slip and water immersion tests for webbing; and strength, durability, dust and corrosion tests for retractors.
• Testing of seat belts for functionality, speed, angle, and tension under acceleration.
• Dynamic test mainly evaluates the performance of the seat belt during a collision, the seat belt assembly must not break, the buckle or locking system must not fail, and the buckle will not open accidentally during a collision. (The forward displacement at the pelvis of the dummy should be between 80-200mm and the forward displacement at the chest should be between 100-300mm.)
• Dynamic tensile test and static tensile test of seat belts, both of which should test the effectiveness of all functions in terms of temperature change, waterproof and dustproof, and need to carry out cyclic testing.
3、ECE R17 (mainly certify seat backrest and headrest)
• In order to simulate the inertia of the body and head when hitting the seat back, the seat needs to be fixed on the test bench and the device is pressed into the seat back with a force of 53 Nm. The same test is repeated using a dummy head to simultaneously load the neck support and back.
• The dynamic skidding test means that the seat must be able to withstand an impact force of 20G in the forward and backward direction.
• The skid test is designed to simulate the impact of loose baggage or suitcases on the seat in the event of a collision. Generally, two loose blocks are used to impact the rear of the seat.
• The head restraints are the least capable of absorbing the energy of a crash impact.
• The test requires the use of a measuring instrument with a dummy head to impact the headrest forward and backward respectively, and the impact force needs to be guaranteed to be 37.5 Nm of torque.
4. ECE R21 (vehicle interiors)
• Head impact test is mainly to assess the potential risk of head injury, to ensure that the interior components will not cause head injury to passengers in the event of a collision.
• Seat upholstery materials and design need to comply with safety standards and avoid producing sharp edges or fragments in a collision in order to minimize injuries to passengers.
• The vehicle's airbags, crash foam deng protection systems need to meet minimum safety standards to provide adequate protection.
Xiamen Van Seat has a wide range of M1 certified seats that have a variety of uses for minibuses, buses, ambulances, vans, lorries, school buses, campervans, motorhomes and other specialty vehicles. Of course, you can also buy our untested seats, which are of the same high quality and standard as the M1 certified seats, and under strict control, you can buy and test them yourself to get the required certification.
